The Other Mother in Our Home: Why Nannies Make Families Stronger

“The key to a stronger family unit isn’t trying to juggle parenting and being something else. 1. I think it is pretty impossible to work and raise a child simultaneously although there are many single parents who don’t have a choice as paying a nanny $150-200/week finds them in a rut for quality care. Living in DC, many parents can telecommute (primarily gov’t employees) and they find a nanny even though they’re upstairs working. Having a 2-year old run in and out of the home office all day makes it hard to work!

  2. It’s nice to read an article advocating for respect towards nannies! Too many people devalue what we do and the role we take in children’s lives.
