Thinking back about different Nanny jobs I have had in the past a few funny”embarrassing stories” come to mind. I thought I would share one of them with you all.
A previous family I worked for had three amazing, energetic, cheerful boys aged 2, 5, and 7. This was a great family to work for, I miss them every day and look forward to the occasional nights that I babysit them. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to work with such a wonderful family!
Every morning the 5 and 7 year old would hop on the bus at 8:30am to go to school and I’d have the 2 year old for most of the day. We would go on outings together which included the aquarium, stepping stones museum, Kids U, the park, etc. However, two days a week I would drop him off at school for two hours and head back to their house to get some laundry done. On this day in particular after I dropped the 2 year old off at school I headed back to the house and noticed that the cleaning crew were there cleaning the house (including the downstairs and upstairs bathroom!) This was a problem because I REALLY needed to use the bathroom! The only bathroom available was the bathroom in the parents room ( which I am allowed to use if I need to) I always avoid parent’s rooms unless it’s absolutely necessary for me to go in there.
So I attempted to fold the laundry and try to forget that I needed to use the bathroom- it almost got to the point that I had to PINCH myself to forget! I finally gave in and ran into the parents bathroom.
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???…. I try to leave the bathroom and I CAN’T OPEN THE DOOR! The door is jammed shut!!! (it was one of those sliding doors) I try to pull the door open over and over and it’s literally not opening! I begin to panic! I have to pick the 2 year up from school in 45 minutes! It’s okay the cleaning crew can let me out right?…. WRONG!!! It’s super quiet in the house and I look out the bathroom window and see the cleaning crew pulling out!
ok Jen… no need to panic… just pull the door harder!… it’s still not opening!!! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?? *heart beating fast…. starting to sweat….* OK, good thing my phone was in my pocket… I make the dreaded phone call… “MB…. I’m STUCK in your bathroom!”
If I didn’t have my phone I don’t know what I would have done. DB was on his lunch break and works nearby so he came home and let me out…..
I was so embarrassed!…..
