Explore a Tree…… a world of discovery

I was a preschool teacher and I have my masters in elementary education. Because of this, I am always looking for new ways to educate the children I work with. I am always buying books full of activities that will stimulate children’s minds to help them learn, grow, and develop.

I was flipping through a book I recently purchased called,”The Encyclopedia of Infant and Toddler Activities: for children birth to 3,” and I came across an interesting discovery/outdoor play activity for early toddlers. I wanted to share it with you and get your thoughts on it.

The activity is called: Explore a Tree. I will post a photo of the activity below.

For those of you who have toddlers or have worked with toddlers you know that discovery is very important for them. We have to remember that anything we see in our everyday life is most likely new to an early toddler. Exploring a tree is a fantastic idea. Think about it- how close have you brought your toddler to a tree? Have they ever touched a tree, smelled a tree, explored a tree?

I am excited to explore a tree with J next week! I will write a follow up blog on her experience with it.

If you choose to do this activity with your toddler please come back and tell me how it went! I’d love to know!! 🙂
